How do I improve a low arch?
|
fjrigjwwe9r1Content_Articles:Tx Dear Dancehelp,
When I point my feet it is not very good so how can I strengthen my point and make my arch more flexible?
Thank you!
Mariana

Hi Mariana,
Try these tools to improve your arch:
Pro Arch
or
Exercise Band
They both help a low arch. First and foremost though, practice moving your feet through tendu and rond de jambe - always work your arch as much as you can. And do the exercises on the above equipment! Try the exercise band first...then move on to Pro-Arch if it doesn't help after one year. The band should be sufficient for most.
For the accomplished dancers with strong feet and low arches: when you go on pointe, you may want to find a softer pointe shoe instead of a hard one. Make certain your foot is strong enough first! Sometimes as a camouflage, dancers put legwarmers over the arch - cause let's just face it - we don't all have beautiful arches! This doesn't mean our feet aren't working properly in all cases though! Some dancers have been in the business for years and their arches are still low... Beginners should not try this though since they may be hindering their development by hiding the foot from the teacher. And without corrections and instruction, you will never see if your arch may actually develop into something much better!
Thanks and happy dancing!
